Vrihaan finally reached the right platform; stopping to catch his breath, he stole a quick glance at his watch, then looked around; in the distance, sat a young girl who looked nearly half his age; ‘the last train…,’
before he could complete, the girl cut in, ‘it left…you missed it’.
Vrihaan sat down on the bench with a thud and sighed heavily, ‘I couldn’t make it on time’; she turned her face to him; ‘my parents left town…I thought I’d see them off’; Vrihaan emitted a huff, then added, ‘but got stuck in a meeting’; he shrugged his shoulders.
‘You know, I come here everyday and wait till the last train leaves the platform,’ she said, lowering her head; seeing his questioning eyes, a moment later she added, ‘Mum and Dad were supposed to be back last week, but their train met with an accident’; Vrihaan’s eyes widened in shock; ‘they never came back…,’ she paused, then continued, ‘people think I’m in denial…but it’s my regret which doesn’t let me accept the truth…I wish I’d spent enough time with them’;
Vrihaan stared at her retreating figure as she walked away.

Tragedy strikes every day and is truly a sad thing. There is a moral to the story however…spend more time with the people you love cause you never know. Nicely written post.
