Do you ever realize at what point you start falling for someone? Most of you might say no, but I’d say yes. Let me take you back to that moment –
I was gazing up at the heavy, dark clouds, about to break into rain droplets anytime; the sky seemed to be reflecting my face, wet and clouded with tears. suddenly his face flashed before my eyes, this is wrong, I swallowed the lump in my throat.
I heard a thud behind me, the door opened. It was my husband.
Seeing tears in my eyes, he froze for a moment, then hesitantly walked over to me. ‘Is something wrong?’ He asked.
I looked away and sniffed hard. ‘Are you happy…I mean…this marriage…er…,’ I fumbled for words.
He stared at me for a long while, then said, ‘it’s about you being happy with me, isn’t it?’
‘I’m trying hard, trust me…I’m -‘
He cut me short, ‘then stop trying…if this marriage makes you sad, leave me.’
I was dumbfounded. ‘You mean…’
He took a deep breath. ‘I notice everything – your forced smiles, cold stares, silent tears, your swollen eyes…every little emotion you try to hide. You know what I think about first thing in the morning – if I can do anything to make you feel better.’ He let out a heavy sigh. ‘So, I think today I’ve done that.’
He dropped his eyes and swallowed hard. But for reasons unknown, I couldn’t take my eyes off his face. Suddenly, after what seemed like ages, I heard my heart beating.
